Local organizer, Dr. Xiaohua Li, would like to announce that the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression, NARSAD, is hosting an event called, Healthy Minds across America, that highlights research being done at the national and local levels on schizophrenia and depression. UAB is one of the 50 top academic institutions across the nation that will hold this event simultaneously to promote awareness of new and exciting research in mental health fields, as scientists try to better understand these illnesses and clinicians develop new and better treatments for them. The Birmingham chapter of this event, which is free and open to the public, will be organized by the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology and sponsored by the UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center.
The forum, Healthy Minds across America, will be held on September 14th at the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus in the Spain Wallace Building located on the corner of 7th Avenue South & 19th Street South. The program begins at 1:00 P.M. and will conclude by 4:30 p.m. Paid Parking is available at the 4th Avenue Deck located at 1801 4th Avenue South or free limited parking is available on the street next to the auditorium.
Several videos, live presentations, and medical research posters will be presented, which will focus on the current status of psychiatric research and exciting, innovative treatments on the horizon. The forum is designed to educate the public on the future of research in this field. The live presentations will focus on research works from scientists at UAB.
Please join us on September 14th for Healthy Minds across America and learn more about the current state of mental health research in our community and its future.
